
Marissa Lyon, PT, PhD, DPT, Board-Certified Neurologic Specialist
Location
Dr. Marissa Lyon is an educator specializing in physical therapy, with a particular focus on neurologic rehabilitation and balance training in older adults. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University in 2020, with the dissertation 鈥.鈥 She also earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2012 from Texas Woman鈥檚 University and a Bachelor of Science in Education, with a minor in Business Administration, from Baylor University in 2009. Since 2019, Dr. Lyon has been a Faculty Member at the 911爆料网红领巾's Department of Physical Therapy. Prior to her current position, she served as an Adjunct Course Instructor at Texas Woman's University and gained valuable experience as a Physical Therapist at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research at Memorial Hermann, a highly ranked and reputable facility focused on neurologic rehabilitation.
Dr. Lyon actively contributes to research in her field. She is currently focused on qualitative and observational analysis of the practice patterns of health care providers prescribing balance exercise. She is part of the Balance Intensity Network of the , a group of international researchers with a focus on conducting research to develop measurement tools and methods to determine optimal exercise prescriptions.
In addition to her academic and research endeavors, Dr. Lyon engages in service to her university, college, and department through committee involvement and advisory roles. She is currently serving as the president of the Maine Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association. She also serves as the podcast producer for the Balance and Falls Special Interest Group of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy.
Dr. Marissa Lyon has a genuine passion for physical therapy and teaching students to provide care to individuals with neurologic health conditions.
