911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν Vice President for Communications and Global Affairs Anouar Majid, Ph.D., was interviewed by University World News about the establishment of campuses abroad, particularly in North Africa. Majid’s expertise was sought following the opening of Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) in Tunisia, the first overseas office of CMES.

Majid discussed the benefits of an β€œAmerican academic approach” in a primarily β€œFrancophone environment”, saying: "The states of the Arab Maghreb Union in North Africa like Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria and Mauritania crave the American model of education and have long sought to break with the heavy French legacy that shapes their research, so this is a small step in the right direction."

Speaking about 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν’s tie to the region, he said, β€œMorocco is home to the American 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν’s study-abroad campus in Tangier, which is connecting American students and the Moroccan community around significant cultural and social projects."
