The 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν’s College of Osteopathic Medicine is training the next generation of primary and geriatric care providers, according to a February 20, 2016 article in the Bangor Daily News

The article, β€œWho will care for aging Mainers?” highlighted the need for geriatric care for Maine’s aging population. 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν is working to meet that need by preparing students for careers in primary care and geriatrics. According to the article, 60 percent of 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν COM graduates go on to primary care and students studying all health professions are exposed to geriatrics. β€œWe ensure a great deal of exposure to geriatrics in the classroom and through clinical experiences,” said Kathyrn Brandt, D.O. '97, MMEL '11, professor, chair of primary care and interim chair of geriatrics. β€œEspecially in rural areas, where we practice across the age spectrum, it is really important that any doctor know these things.”
