An article in the August 2016 issue of Boston Magazine references a study on dogfish at the 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν’s Center for Excellence in Marine Sciences. The article, titled, β€œCod is Dead – Is Dogfish the Answer?” explores the abundance of dogfish and how fisheries and marine researchers are looking for ways to utilize the species.

The article discusses a quarter-million-dollar grant 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν received in conjunction with the Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman’s Alliance to study dogfish market development. It also quotes James Sulikowski, Ph.D., professor of marine science, who explained their reproductive behavior. β€œThere’s no time offβ€”as soon as they give birth, they start over again,” he said. β€œThey’re like little machines.”
