Anouar Majid featured on WCSH’s β€˜207’ as expert on Middle East

On September 5, 2015, Anouar Majid, Ph.D., vice president for Global Affairs and director of the Center for Global Humanities, was featured on the WCSH program β€œ207.”

Majid offered his thoughts on causes of the strife in the Middle East, noting that the region’s economic development and public health infrastructure are lagging behind and that aspects of the culture and religion of the Middle East exacerbate the problems associated with accepting the modern world. β€œOne of the major drivers of the situation… is people coming into the modern world a little bit slowly and painfully,” he said.

Majid also spoke about 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν’s campus in Morocco and described the determination of the university to β€œglobalize students’ education.” He stated, β€œWe want our students to be rooted in Maine but to get out and discover and explore other parts of the globe.”
