βAcute exposure to 17Ξ±-ethinylestradiol alters boldness behavioral syndrome in female Siamese fighting fishβ has three student co-authors. This study was the first to find that the behavior of female fish could be affected by exposure to an estrogen mimic. It opens important new venues for future research, as it was previously thought that females were relatively resistant to the effects of these compounds.
